A community is only as strong as its ability to keep its people. Gladys will continue advocating for housing policies that protect longtime residents, farmworker families, business employees, and young families, so that the people who built Hood River can afford to stay.
Transportation & Getting Around
Not everyone in Hood River has a car. For farmworker families, elderly residents, and people with disabilities, getting to work, school, or the grocery store depends on what the city builds. Gladys will prioritize transportation and infrastructure that connect everyone — not just those with cars.
Belonging & Community Infrastructure
Every resident of Hood River deserves to feel that this city was built with them in mind. Gladys will continue to invest in the parks, community spaces, language access, and civic programs that create genuine belonging, for everyone — including neighbors who have historically had the hardest time being heard.
Environment & Livability
The Gorge is not a backdrop — it is our home, our economy, and our inheritance. Gladys will continue protecting Hood River’s air, water, land, and green spaces while building the sustainable infrastructure that keeps this place livable for generations to come.
Economic Vitality & Small Business
Hood River’s economy runs on the orchards, farms, restaurants, and small businesses built by people who poured everything into this community. Gladys will champion economic policies that keep wealth circulating locally, support small, locally owned businesses — including immigrant-owned businesses — and ensure growth doesn’t price out the people who made this place.

Every family in Hood River deserves to live without fear — including immigrant and undocumented neighbors. Gladys will advocate for clear policies that protect all residents, upholds dignity, and ensures that public safety truly serves the whole community.
Transparent, Accountable Government
Good government starts with listening. As mayor, Gladys will hold regular bilingual town halls across Hood River’s neighborhoods, launch community surveys in English and Spanish to shape city priorities, and create clear, accessible channels for residents to give feedback on decisions that affect their lives. No backroom decisions. No closed doors. Every voice counts, and every voice deserves a response.
